半径1kmの風景をつくる

Chisha community in Nishiawakura village,
located in the northeast corner of Okayama prefecture,
is a small village in a valley where
about 20 households live peacefully.

If you listen carefully and quietly,
the whispers of the cedar trees will reach your ears.
If you follow the light shaking the leaves and the water flowing beneath your feet,
you will feel the memory of a life that
has been passed down from generation to generation.

In a small world with a radius of one kilometer,
daily life is alive.

Our mission is to inherit and
pass on a way of life that seems to exist everywhere,
but is unique to this place.

Poultry Farming as a Center for Local Resource Recycling and Landscape Creation

We raise chickens on fermented feed made directly from local rice and vegetables. We also use chicken manure as fertilizer to grow new crops. Through these efforts, we are attempting to build a recycling system for local resources through poultry farming. Our activities are also about creating a landscape for the Chisha community.

  • Poultry farming

    平飼い養鶏

We raise our chickens flat-fed on our own compound feed, which is made mainly from unused resources that are not used in the region and fermented by us. The chickens are fed abundant nutrients and grow up healthy,
    producing high quality eggs.

  • Coexistence with Satoyama through hunting

    里山と共生する狩猟

We hunt in order to appropriately adjust the population while protecting the ecosystem of Satoyama. Captured wild animals are carefully utilized as local resources, and are sold as meat and processed products on the dinner table. Through these efforts, we maintain the balance of the ecosystem and preserve the beautiful landscape of Satoyama for the future.

  • Circular agriculture with small scale

    循環型小規模農業

We promote recycling-oriented small-scale agriculture, in which chicken manure from flat-fed poultry farming is returned to farmland as organic fertilizer to enrich the soil and cultivate new crops. Through this initiative, we aim to promote the recycling of local resources, realize sustainable agriculture, and create a rich landscape.

Toward a society where dots(点) are connectedFuture Actions

We believe that our efforts at TenTen(点々) will not be completed here alone, but are the beginning of a larger wave that will spill over into the future. Ten(点) means "dot" or "dots" in the Japanese word. We hope that our action, a one dot, will trigger a chain of new actions by someone else, connecting the dots to form a line that will eventually become a web that spreads around the world, creating a society that will pass this world on to the next generation.

It is a small but great challenge for us
at TenTen to strike a small dot from this Satoyama
that will lead us into the future.
